Tell your buyers about a new version

Send it

1. Start your update as usual. See release a new version.
2. Write Release notes. They go in the email, so say what's new and why it matters.
3. Leave Email N past buyers on. It's on by default.
4. Press the Release button.

You'll see how many buyers will be notified, and the version gets the note "buyers notified". Emails go out gradually, so they won't all land in the same second.

You only get one chance

The email can only go out at the moment you release. There's no button to send it later, and you can't send it again.

There's also a limit of one announcement per product in 24 hours. If you've sent one within that time, the new version still releases, but no email goes out, and you can't send one for that version afterwards. If the news matters, wait until the 24 hours have passed before you release.

What buyers get

• A subject with the product name and version, like "Harbor UI Kit v1.1 is out", and your notes in the email.
• A Get the update button that opens their order page. The link in it works for 14 days. After that, they can request a new link.
• A one-click Stop update emails from this seller link.

If they reply, the reply goes to your support email.

Who gets it

Everyone with active access to this product, including people who claimed it for free.

These people don't get it:

• Buyers whose order was fully refunded
• Buyers who lost a dispute
• Anyone who unsubscribed from your updates

The number on the switch is your count of active buyers, so the number actually emailed can be lower.

Unsubscribing covers all update emails from you, not just this product. Receipts are still sent, and buyers keep their purchases.

When it doesn't send

• The product is in draft. Emails only go out for a published product, whether it's online or hidden. The version still releases.
• The switch was off. You'd need to release another version to send an email.

What this isn't

It's the only email you can send to buyers through Dockstall, and it's for new versions only. There's no newsletter or broadcast tool. Products delivering only a link have no versions, so they have no update email either.
