Help center / Products and delivery
Draft, online, hidden and archived
Draft isn't finished, online is for sale, hidden is set aside and can't be bought, and archived is closed but can be restored. Past buyers keep access in all of them.
Change a product's state
Go to Products and open the menu on the product, or the one at the top of its own page. It only lists what's possible from where the product is now.
What each state means
Draft
Not finished. Nobody can see or buy it. From here you can Publish, Archive or Delete.
Online
On your store and for sale. From here you can Hide from store, Move to draft, Archive or Delete.
Hidden
Finished, but set aside. It's off your store, its page is gone, and nobody can buy it, even with a direct link. From here you can Show on store, Move to draft, Archive or Delete.
Archived
Closed. It's off your store and out of your main list, and you can only read it. From here you can Restore, which brings it back as a draft, or Delete.
What happens to past buyers
They keep their access in all four states. Their order page, downloads and links carry on working. If you need to take something away from them, see withdraw a version.
Good to know
- Publish always puts the product on your store, whatever you ticked when you created it.
- Using the eye button in the Products section of the store editor also hides the product, and so does removing it from there. Both take effect straight away, without pressing Publish changes.
- Someone who's already on Stripe's payment page when you hide a product can still finish paying. Taking it off sale stops new checkouts, not ones already open.
- Old links to a hidden product show a "not found" page, not a message. If you've shared the link widely, expect a few questions.
- The All tab in Products leaves out archived products. They have their own Archived tab.
What isn't possible
There's no unlisted state, where a product is off your store but can still be bought through a private link. Hidden means nobody can buy it. For one-off work you've agreed with a client, a payment link is the closest thing, but it doesn't deliver any files.
