Sell a link as a product
Choose A link when you create the product, paste an https:// address, and buyers get a private button to it after they pay.
Set it up
- Go to Products and press New product.
- Under What do buyers get?, choose A link.
- Set the name and price, then press Create product.
- Open What buyers get and paste the address into Access link. It must start with
https://. If the product has more versions, each one has its own field here. - Add a Button label if you want one, like "Open the Notion workspace".
- Press Publish.
What buyers see
Your store shows that the product includes a link, not where it goes. After buying, the buyer gets an order page with a button, either your label or Access link, and Open link takes them through a private redirect.
The email sends them to the order page, not to the address itself.
Changing the address
Dockstall reads the address each time someone clicks. If you change it, every past buyer gets the new one on their next click. You can fix a broken link this way without contacting anyone.
Once people have bought it, the link can be replaced but not left empty. Without a link, a product can't be bought.
What a link can't do
Please read this before you choose a link over files.
- A link can be passed on. A buyer can forward the page it opens, and we tell them on your product page that links can't be revoked. Keep the real protection at the destination, like invites you control.
- A refund only closes our door. A full refund stops the button working, but someone who saved the destination address can still use it.
- Dockstall doesn't check the destination. We only check that the address starts with
https://. Keeping that page online is up to you. - There are no versions or update emails. A link-only product has no versions, so you can't announce a change through Dockstall. If you need that, deliver files and a link together.
Seeing who opened it
In Orders, open an order. Under Delivery, you'll see Opened link with the date and time for the latest activity.
Who pays what
A buyer pays on Stripe's page, into your own Stripe account. You bear Stripe's processing fee and Dockstall's fee: 5% on Free, 1% on Pro. A free link product has neither.
