My custom domain isn't working
Check that your DNS record matches the one on the Domains page exactly, give it some time, then click Check now and read the message there.
Your store is still live at yourname.dockstall.com while you sort this out. Point people there if you need to.
Start here
- Open Domains. The record you need is on the card for your domain.
- At your domain provider, compare it character by character: type
CNAME, the name, and targetstores.dockstall.com. Create theTXTrecord too, if one is shown. - Click Check now.
Any error from the check appears in red on that card. If you write to us, include it.
By message
"Not verified yet. DNS changes can take up to an hour." We can't see your record yet, or the check is still running. Wait, then check again. We also check every 5 minutes.
"Checked recently. Give DNS a few minutes." You've hit the limit of 20 checks an hour. The automatic check keeps going.
"Too many domain changes today." You can add 10 domains a day. Try again tomorrow.
"That domain is already connected to a Dockstall store." It's on another store, or it's still on yours from before. If it's listed on your Domains page, click Remove first and add it again.
"Custom domains are part of Pro." You need to be on Pro to add one. See upgrade to Pro.
Activation pending on our side. The wait is on us, not your DNS. It activates by itself once setup is finished. If this stays for long, write to us.
By symptom
`yourname.com` works but `www.yourname.com` doesn't, or the other way round. Only the address you connected is served. Redirect the other one from your domain provider.
My provider won't accept a CNAME on `@`. Look for ALIAS or ANAME. If it has neither, connect www.yourname.com and redirect the root to it.
The address opens but shows a security warning. The certificate is issued once DNS points to us. It usually takes minutes, sometimes up to an hour.
It says connected, but the page is a 404. Check your store isn't offline.
It stopped working after months. You may no longer be on Pro. See below.
It was disconnected
When you leave Pro, or a Pro payment fails and isn't fixed, we email you the date your domain will be disconnected. Going back to Pro before that date keeps it.
After it's disconnected, being on Pro again may not bring it back by itself. On Domains, click Remove and add it again.
What we can and can't do
Your DNS records live at your domain provider, so we can't change them for you, and they may need to help you find the setting. Timing also depends on your provider, so we can't promise when a change will show. If your record is right and it still won't connect, write to us with your domain and any error on the card.
