Create a payment link
In Payment links, press New link, set the amount and what it's for, then copy the link and send it to your client.
Create it
- Go to Payment links and press New link.
- Fill in Title and Amount, between €1 and €10,000.
- Fill in What it's for. Your client sees this, so be specific: what you'll deliver and when you agreed it.
- Choose a Type of payment.
- Under Can be paid, choose Once or Many times. See which to choose.
- Add Expires on or Only for this email if you need them.
- Press Create link, then copy the link and send it to your client.
You can find the link again later with Copy link in the list. Links aren't shown on your store. Only people you send them to will find them.
Before your client can pay
Your Stripe account has to be active. You can create links before that, but nobody can pay them yet. See connect your Stripe account.
Where the money goes and who pays
Your client pays on Stripe's page, into your own Stripe account. You bear Stripe's processing fee and Dockstall's fee on each payment: 5% on Free, 1% on Pro. On €450, Dockstall's fee is €22.50 on Free and €4.50 on Pro. Coupons don't work on payment links.
What happens next
You get an email when it's paid, and your client gets a receipt. Dockstall doesn't deliver anything for a payment link and doesn't hold the money. Delivering the work is between you and your client, and so is any disagreement about it.
If you need to give the money back, you can refund it from the order. See refund an order.
Changing a link
You can't edit or delete a link. If something's wrong:
- Press Disable on the old one.
- Create a new one and send it.
Enable turns a disabled link back on. Someone already on Stripe's payment page when you disable a link can still finish paying.
Expires on runs until the end of that day, UTC.
What they're for
Payment links are for digital goods and work you agreed with a client. They aren't for money transfers, loans, deposits, donations or anything on Stripe's restricted list. See why a payment link was refused.
