What your client sees
A simple page with your name, the title, what it's for and the amount. They enter their email, confirm, and pay on Stripe's page.
The steps your client goes through
- They open your link. The page shows your avatar and name, the type of payment, your Title, your What it's for text and the amount. It also says whether it's a one-time or reusable link, and when it's valid until if you set a date.
- They enter their email. It's where the receipt goes. If you set Only for this email, they have to enter that address.
- They tick a box. It confirms that they're paying you for what's described, and that Dockstall only processes this payment page and doesn't hold funds, act as escrow, or guarantee the work.
- They press Pay. The button shows the amount and takes them to Stripe's payment page. Payment happens there, into your own Stripe account.
- They come back to a confirmation. Their order page says the payment is complete. Some payment methods take longer, and they'll see Confirming your payment… until it clears.
- They get a receipt by email. The subject says you received the payment. If they reply, the reply goes to your support email.
They don't need an account.
Other things on the page
At the bottom, there's your support email for questions about the work, and a Report this link option.
The page uses your store's language, and so does Stripe's page. Your own title and description stay as you wrote them, so write them in your client's language.
If the link can't be paid
Your client sees one of these instead of the form:
- Already paid, on a paid one-time link.
- This link has expired, after Expires on.
- This link is no longer active, if you pressed Disable.
If they use the wrong address on a link limited to one email, they're told it was created for a different email address. If your Stripe account isn't ready, they're told you haven't finished setting up payments.
Where the link works
A payment link isn't on your store and is kept out of search engines, so it only reaches people you send it to. Anyone who has it can open it, so use Only for this email if that matters.
It keeps working if you unpublish your store. To stop it, press Disable.
What your client doesn't get
Nothing is delivered through Dockstall. Their order page shows the receipt, with no files. Send the work yourself, as you agreed.
Dockstall also can't step in if there's a disagreement about the work. That's between you and your client.
