Why a payment link was refused
The title or description has a word we block, like deposit, rent, gift or crypto, or a required field is too short. Describe the actual work and try again.
What to do
- Read the message at the top of the New payment link window.
- Change your Title or What it's for so it describes the actual work or product you're charging for.
- Press Create link again.
The blocked words
If you see "Payment links are for digital goods and agreed commercial work, not transfers, loans, deposits, donations or crypto", your Title or What it's for contains a word that starts like one of these. The check works in all five languages Dockstall speaks, so a word in English, Italian, Spanish, German or French counts, whichever language your page is in.
- Loans: loan, prestito, préstamo, Darlehen, Kredit, emprunt
- Rent: rent, affitto, alquiler, arriendo, Miete, loyer
- Deposits: deposit, deposito, caparra, cauzione, fianza, Kaution, Pfand, dépôt, "une caution"
- Gifts: gift, regalo, regalar, Geschenk, cadeau
- Donations: donation, donazione, donación, Spende, "faire un don"
- Transfers: transfer, bonifico, trasferimento, transferencia, Überweisung, virement
- Remittances: remittance, rimessa, remesa, Geldsendung, "envoi d'argent"
- Crypto and bitcoin: crypto, cripto, Krypto, bitcoin
- Lotteries: lottery, lotteria, lotería, Lotterie, loterie
- Gambling: gambling, gioco d'azzardo, scommesse, apuestas, juego de azar, Glücksspiel, Wetten, "jeu d'argent"
This is an automatic check, and it doesn't read for meaning. It also catches longer words, so "rental", "gift card", "transferable", "affittare" and "cryptography" are refused too. Capital letters and accents make no difference.
If your payment is real work
Sometimes an innocent phrase gets caught, like "transfer of rights" or "cryptography workshop". Say it another way, in terms of what your client is paying for. For example, "Licence for the logo artwork" or "Workshop on data security".
If you're charging part of the fee for agreed work up front, name the work and the stage, not the money. For example, "Logo design, first half of the agreed fee".
If your payment really is one of these
Then rewording doesn't help. Payment links aren't for money transfers, loans, deposits you hold for someone, donations, or anything on Stripe's restricted list. Our rules don't allow them, whatever they're called, and using a different word could put your store and your Stripe account at risk. Dockstall can't make exceptions, and Stripe's decisions on your account are Stripe's.
Other reasons a link is refused
- "Give the payment a clear title." The title needs at least 3 characters.
- "Describe what the payment is for (at least 10 characters). Buyers see this." Add more detail.
- "Amount must be between €1 and €10,000." A single link can't go outside this range.
- "That recipient email doesn't look right." Check Only for this email for a typo.
- "You're creating links very fast. Try again in a bit." There's a limit of 60 new links per hour.
If you think a link was refused by mistake and you can't find a way to word it, contact us with your title and description.
