What you can and can't sell
You can sell digital products you made or have the right to sell, and take payment for real work agreed with a client, as long as it breaks neither our Seller Rules nor Stripe's list.
The full text is in the Seller Rules, under Legal pages in your account menu. Here is the short version.
What you can sell
- Digital products you made or have the right to sell, such as templates, fonts, code, presets, e-books, courses, music and artwork
- Access links to things you provide
- Payment links for real work agreed with a client
What you can't sell
- Anything illegal where you or your buyers are, or anything that infringes someone else's copyright, trademarks or other rights
- Malware, cracked or pirated software, keys or accounts, phishing kits, tools for fraud or unauthorized access
- Sexual content, content involving minors, hate, harassment, or content that promotes violence
- Weapons, drugs, gambling, financial services, investments, or get-rich-quick schemes
- Money transfers, loans, deposits, crowdfunding, or donations dressed up as sales
- Other people's personal data, fake reviews, or misleading claims about your products
- Anything on Stripe's list of restricted and prohibited businesses
Where people get unsure
- Resell rights and PLR. The test is whether you really have the right to sell it. If you can't show that you do, it can be reported and removed.
- AI-made products and AI tools. Our rules don't ban them. They have to meet the same rules as everything else, and Stripe's list applies too.
- Physical goods. There is no shipping and no address field. Products are digital.
- Subscriptions. Not available yet. Each sale is a single payment.
If you aren't sure about Stripe's list, ask Stripe. Stripe makes its own decisions about your account, and we can't overrule them. Our rules allowing something doesn't mean Stripe will approve it.
Do you check products first?
Your product goes live when you publish it, with no review from us. The exception is files that look like programs, which can be held for a manual review before buyers can download them.
Being live doesn't mean a product is allowed. Anyone can report a store, and a person reviews each report. If something breaks the rules, we may remove it, unpublish products, restrict payouts through Stripe or suspend the account. We tell you what we did and why, unless the law or an investigation prevents it, and you can contest it. See why a store gets reviewed or suspended.
This article isn't legal advice. Whether you may sell something is your responsibility as the seller.
Before you build everything
Connect Stripe early, and read Stripe's list before you spend time or money on launching a product you're unsure about.
